HLTH | October 20 – 23, 2024

Dr. Sisi Hu, Atalan Tech’s Co-Founder and Chief Wellbeing Economist, made a significant impact at HLTH 2024 during the panel presentation “The Working Well.” The session brought together an impressive lineup of experts including Dr. Ashwin Vasan, NYC Health Commissioner of the New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene; Lisa Morozoff from Uber; and Dr. Nikole Benders-Hadi, M.D. from Talkspace, with Kathleen M. Pike from One Mind at Work moderating the discussion.

In her insightful discussion,, Dr. Hu addressed one of today’s most pressing workforce issues: employee wellbeing. Representing Atalan, she highlighted how health systems can move beyond traditional survey-based assessments, which are often limited by nonresponse bias, to leverage nonsurvey data and machine learning. This approach, she explained, allows healthcare leaders to uncover deeper, more actionable insights into clinician wellbeing and retention, transforming data into predictive models that signal risk factors and support timely intervention.

Key takeaways from the panel included the value of early involvement and co-design with frontline clinician, particularly nurses, to build trust and ensure that predictive models truly meet the needs of those on the ground. Insights from the panel point out that change management, powered by robust data, is essential to foster transformation. Moreover, the predictive technology of Atalan was highlighted as a tool with the potential to destigmatize mental health challenges and empower employers to take a proactive approach to support their teams.

Dr. Hu’s contributions at HLTH 2024 resonated with industry leaders and further emphasized the importance of data-driven strategies in creating healthier, more sustainable workplaces. The session set a forward-thinking tone for the future of employee wellbeing in healthcare.
